Swirlydoos 2nd Reveal "Brass Shilling"

Hello Friends! Just a quick post today to share my last two projects using the Swirlydoos June Kit, Brass Shilling. This was such a fun kit to work with because you could go pure elegance or total grunge!
This is my sweet Clea. She just graduated 8th grade and won the school President's Education Award! We are extremely proud of our girl and know that she will do well in high school coming this fall!! When I scrapped her picture I want to give that sophisticated elegant feel.

For my last project I made a card. I'm still working on my card skills. I think working with such a small space intimidates me a bit. The clock is Blue Fern Studios chipboard piece. I first treated it with gesso then dabbed chalkboard mist and silk paint

Thanks for taking the time.....

I love the pretty paper from Kasiercrafts! Especially the sheet with the foil butterflies!! Of course I had to fussy cut those babies out!
So, with all the  grungy base coat papers in the kit, I wanted to make a masculine page. We recently went down to California, after a year and half, to visit family. For my son's 9th birthday my dad surprised Elijah with this truck. My dad is building it to give to him when he gets his drivers licences in six years....lol! My dad is almost 70, so it'll take that long to get it completed...hehee!! Elijah was totally excited and had me take TONS of pictures. Which I was more than happy to do :)
The kit came with a 12x12 cardboard. I stripped it and painted it with black gesso. When it was dry I smothered molding paste in some area for textures. Then, I sprayed with a bunch of different mist.

This is my page based on the June sketch. I don't do to well with negative space... I love stuff...lol!! So, I went with a few distressed layers for a fill in.

Here is the exclusive monthly sketch. Isn't it a cool one!!

Tim Holtz Altered Clock

Hi everyone! Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend! Today I wanted to share an altered clock I made using the Swirlydoos May Project Kit. The ET gals did an amazing job altering theirs. I was totally inspired to get mine done! You can find their video tutorials on Swirlydoos YouTube Channel.

So, here it is
I removed the glass and painted the whole thing with gesso.Once it was dry I smothered some Glass Bead Gel in small spots for some textured. I then added another coat of Gesso. When it was dry I sprayed some Glimmermist in Vintage Pink just to give a light pink tint.

Here is a little peek of the inside. To go with the angel wings on the outside, I placed an angel in the inside hidden among the flowers :)

Thanks so much for taking the time!!!

Can I just start off by saying...I LOVE the Prima Lyric Collection! Totally shabby chic and elegant!! I ran with the light pink and black, such a beautiful mix! I made lots of pretty layers using foam tape between each distressed paper.

Again, isn't the paper just gorgeous!?!?! Here I just did a bit more distressing around the edges. The paper has it's own pretty frame, so I just worked around it.

Swirlydoos Kits are so versatile! For my last two layouts I went with the natural colors using the Kaisercraft paper!!

This is my layout based on the monthly sketch. I usually don't scrap green because it's so hard for me. But, using the sketch and the photo as inspiration, I was able to complete this layout in less than an hour. A record for me...lol!!
Here's the awesome sketch by Begga

Swirlydoos 2nd Reveal, Hello Beautiful

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I'm sharing my last two projects using Swirlydoos April Kit, Hello Beautiful. First up is a canvas using the Project Kit. I loved how the canvas is totally sturdy! I treated it with a couple of  layers of gesso and let dry. In the meantime, I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. While going through all the goodies from the kits, I came across the Prima tray. Remembering Miranda video tutorial (you can find that HERE)I thought it a good idea to use it. So, I painted and glue it on the canvas. That's when I started to add all the bits in bobs in the nooks. From there it took a life of it's own. I just kept adding and adding until the canvas was filled. After, I painted everything with the gesso. About three coats. Once it was finally dried I went in with Glimmermist. There you have it!!
 Here are some close-ups

For my second project I made an easel card. I just had to fussy cut the cute little fairy from the Prima paper. I was going to make a scrapbook page, but I though this little beauty needed to be the center of attention. :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit!!
Until my next post...

Sweet
I am loving the Blue Fern Studios Chippies!!! Krissy did a special order for us and I had to have that frame!! I just treated it with some gesso, cream paint and glitter. The butterflies are something that I digitally created and you can find them at my Etsy Shop.

This is my oldest daughter. She had her 15th b-day in March. She's a sweetheart but sometimes the teenage attitude runs rampant and I have to check her...lol! The butterflies are from my Etsy Shop.
 My Boy
This page was made using the monthly sketch. I wanted to go with a masculine feel with no flowers...lol! I love going the grunge style. You get to muck things up and it looks perfect! This is my son, he just turned nine. We've grown out his mo hawk for the "Superman" do...hehee! He wanted a Frank Rock Style(he LOVES legos) but his hair wouldn't stay.
Here is the April sketch exclusively
for Swirlydoos.
