Transparency Butterfly Tutorial

I found this neat way to make transparent butterflies using embossing power and alcohol ink. I can't find the blog where I saw the tutorial...so please if you see this, contact me so I can link your blog.

Supply List:

*Transparency-the type of transparency is VERY important. I use 3M Write on Transparency Sheets from Office Depot. If you go to Staples or some other office supply store their brand is more flimsy. It will warp under high heat. Also if you make your own pearl flourishes it's harder to hold and cut.

*Versmark Pigment Ink Pad

*Embossing Powder

*Alcohol ink and Mixative
*Embossing gun

*Stamp- acrylic or rubber

Step one:
Cut a square piece of transparency. Obviously bigger than your butterfly.
Put about 3 drips of alcohol ink and 2 dots of a mixative on the transparency.
Here I used Slate Alcohol ink and Silver Mixative.

Step 2:
Blend the alcohol ink and mixative together large enough to fit your stamp.

Step 3:
Ink up your stamp with the Versmark

Step4:
On the backside of the transparency stamp your image. Now, I say the backside because if you stamp on the front with the alcohol ink it may stain your stamp. Also it's smoother on the backside.

Step 5:
Sprinkle your image with Embossing Powder. Here I used Silver Embossing Powder.

Step 6:
Heat up the embossing powder with your heat gun.

Step 7:
Cut out your image. See, super easy!!! * Thank you to my "Hand Model" Cleapatra*

Here I used Red Pepper Alcohol ink and black embossing powder.

and here....Eggplant and Gold Embossing powder. Possibilities are endless!!!!

Here is the layout I used with the butterflies.

I added Prima pearls for the body for the finishing touch.

Not only do I love Alcohol ink, I totally love Glimmer mist. Here I used Silver Glimmer mist on the white flowers.

Oh, and guess what??!! I finally got Photoshop. I figured out to leave Cleapatra's eyes blue and the rest of the photo black and white. I soooo love this effect and been wanting to do it for YEARS!!!! So, most likely I will be editing many of my photos this way...lol!!

Well, I hope that you found this tutorial interesting!! Good luck trying your own butterflies!!

ZVA BLOG HOP

Yay, another Zva Creative DT Blog Hop!

We are joining together today to share a project that we have created using the latest Zva Creative products that are releasing at winter CHA craft show. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun! Zva is introducing 100+ brand new crystal and pearl embellishment designs at the show. All designs have a fresh new look and are available in various popular color choices. If you are attending, please stop by the Zva at Booth # 2991.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: Paper Hugs .She is linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 12 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way. Our team is so wonderfully diverse, so we are hoping that you will be inspired when you reach the end

This Blog Hop runs through midnight on Tuesday, January 19th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 20th. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

ZVA CREATIVE SNEAK PEEK #3

I'm so excited about all of Zva's new crystal and pearl flourishes. Now, they are coming out with with new shapes.
The crystal "photo corner",as I like to call it, is a triangular shape. I placed my photo over it. It kinda reminds me of a crown. All the flowers are Zva as well!!

This flourish has little flower gems at each swirl tip. Totally adorable!!

How fabulous is that crystal butterfly...love it!!

Zva will be hosting another Blog Hop this Monday the 18th. Be sure to join for an awesome prize and more sneak peeks!!!

ZVA Sneak Peek #2

Here is Sneak Peek number two!!!
Sorry about the totally bad photo. The background really is white.

Not only does ZVA have gorgeous crystal flourishes, they ALSO have beautiful PEARL flourishes!!!! I usually have a hard time with negative space layouts. You know me, I love to fill my pages up. But, these pearl flourishes made it so easy.

Just a close-up of the pearls. Aren't they sooooo pretty!! They have a really sturdy backing so applying to your page is simple.

This flourish comes in two pieces. I made it into a photo corner and added the white rose.

I'll be posting another Sneak Peek soon!!!

Christmas Luvs

These are my girls Christmas 2008. When Delilah was just 4 weeks old....sigh...time??!!
I used the December Swirlydoos Kit along with some of my own stash and handmade embelliz.

Now, if your make your own flourishes, you know that you can't use stickles. The dots will just pop off when you try to detail your flourish. So, what I have discovered is when your puff paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter on it. Let dry. Gorgeous results. I also used this technique a few months back on this scrapbook page.

Using the same red glitter , I made the butterflies.

I added red stickles to the brown 'frame' of the Webster's Pages patterned paper.

Today we learned that red glitter can go a long way...LOL!!!
Thanks for visiting!!

Pretty Brown Eyes

My Delilah....she looks so much like me when I was her age. She has the biggest brown eyes that absolutely melt my heart. Now that she's 13 months old she walks around like a "drunken sailor"...heehee!!!
I never used this color combination before. Peach just isn't my color....but how I love the results~~

I made the layered flower by using my Slice and the left over scraps from the Basic Grey pattered paper. I cut the flowers out in different sizes and stacked them. Then, sprayed with Glimmer Mist (pearl) to add the extra shimmer.

I made these little roses by stacking and squishing Got Flowers? Prima Flowers. Then, again, sprayed them with Glimmer Mist.

Just a close-up of my handmade butterfly. I put the Prima Pearls in the center for the body.

Thanks for taking a peek!!
